Enneagram Growth Paths for all 9 Types - which 2 types help you grow?
Colleen-Joy, MCC Master Coach, explains the Enneagram growth paths for all 9 Enneagram types.
The Enneagram is a powerful tool for personal growth beyond mere typing. The traditional "go to" language, where each type is advised to adopt traits from another type to grow, can be confusing and misleading.
Instead, we introduce the concept of "opening doors" between types, which provides a clearer and more effective path to self-improvement.
Let us know in the comments if this helps your Enneagram journey.

    When did you first discover enneagram philosophy and what drew you to it? Were you drawn in by promises of self discovery or self improvement? What happened that really convinced you this was a useful tool? I'm very curious about what triggers form new belief systems. Any answers or insights would be appreciated, thank you.

      Hey Billy, about 20+ years ago my friend and colleague Dr Pam Roux and I were coauthoring a book on handing back family baggage, she kept referring to the enneagram types. I was highly resistant at 1st until I dreamt that she told me I was a 9. The next day I called her up to tell her "Pam I dreamt you told me I'm a 9" and she answered, "That's a very 9 way to find out you are a 9!" We laughed. I picked up Helen Palmer's book at a shop and read about 9 and was shocked at the accuracy. The rest is history, now I love helping to declutter and deeply understand the enneagram which soon became an invaluable tool.

    Hi! This video is one of the most informative videos I’ve seen surrounding this topic so far! But, I was wondering what exactly do you mean when you talk about how the anger of 8s is less directed at a certain thing or for a reason? Like if it isn’t for something or directed at something then where does it go?

    • @InnerlifeskillsILS
      @InnerlifeskillsILS Місяць тому

      Hi thanks so much for the kind feedback, we put a lot into our videos so it means a lot. There of course are exceptions, but what I've seen is that 8 anger is more innate, the energy of it, like a gut fire always there hardwired. And that is because of the Red Pearl - anger + impact + resistance + gut = Red Pearl (8 9 1). Whereas 6CP is a Blue Pearl, so the mind directs anger "at" an injustice, championing the underdog etc. Hope that helps

    • @InnerlifeskillsILS
      @InnerlifeskillsILS Місяць тому

      Thank you so much. It's so difficult to tell what famous people are or were, because we can only see their "behavior" and guess the underlying "Reasons" for what they do, which is the enneagram type. And of course, the personality is different to mental illness, which would over ride the personality. Some folks even argue that he was a 1. My guess, and it really is a guess is not 8, because there appeared to be a lot of "thought through" motivations and ideologies etc. But clearly mental illness which makes it hard to say. I'm also not a history buff, so not positioned to guess well.

  • @gowtham7231

    I'm more of a 6 than an 8. In reality, it is impossible to be independent of others all the time, so I have been a people pleaser at times to gain a social network. However, I cannot associate myself with 3 while disintegrating, as I always show my real face and dislike being inauthentic or wearing a mask to be accepted by someone. The idea of being fake for someone makes me uncomfortable. So this aspect of mine makes me think I'm an 8. It is too confusing.

    • @InnerlifeskillsILS
      @InnerlifeskillsILS Місяць тому

      You are not alone in the confusion, it can be difficult to distinguish for sure. It can help to trace everything back to what I call the personality pearl - Red for 8 and Blue for 6. Your sharing of "people pleaser at times to gain a social network" sounds more like blue pearl than red 8. And it's a touch into the 3, so my guess (not certain) sounds closer to 6 to me. 8 would likely not rationalize too much or share as openly here as you have. Hope that helps. I do have a small free quiz/tutorial that may help, coach.innerlifeskills.com/product/enneagram-free/

      @@InnerlifeskillsILS Thank you for your clarification

  • @capital8096

    Why would type 8 side automatically with the powerful? Their entire personality profile is built around not being controlled, "the need to be against", being free to do what they want (id type). I think powerful vs powerless is too much of a culturally loaded metric to be meaningful, no one likes bullies. the reason they hate the bully is the key. Think about it. If the 8 is constantly seeking hierarchy, then it implies 8 will naturally clash with authority as well, same as a cp 6.

    • @InnerlifeskillsILS
      @InnerlifeskillsILS Місяць тому

      Thanks, great points. Appreciate the share. Any conversation about personality will have generalizations, and there are always exceptions for sure. It's difficult to find helpful teaching points to draw the line between the two, and many folks get that "aha" when they explore the nuances of power vs powerless. Not always, but 8 tends to identify more with being in power, their gut instinct and anger pearl feels like a source of innate power. CP6 tends to identify with the powerless, to champion their cause and speak for the underdog. Its a subtle but often helpful point of exploration.
